Internet fax is just the first step to being environmentally friendly. With the new electric automobiles, the batteries need to be able to last for more than 100 miles. So researchers are coming up with batteries that multitask which would mean that they last longer. Most people would say why not put a bigger battery in the car but the problem with that solution is that to be efficient, the car needs to be relatively lightweight. If the battery is too big, it would be defeating the purpose of making it bigger in the first place. To make the vehicles lighter, engineers are using carbon fiber reinforced composites in the body of the car. Although this technology is not mass produced because of the cost, it looks promising. To enable the composite materials to store electricity, the resin that binds the carbon fibers is laced with lithium ions; the fibers serve as conductive electrodes for this type of charge-holding capacitor. It is different from a battery, which produces electricity from a chemical reaction. More on this topic later!
