Twitter as a Teaching Tool in the Classroom

Over the past few years, Twitter and similar sites have been used in the classroom as part of the learning. Many teachers and professors are having very different opinions on this approach. Some say that it would hinder the learning process. One point that is made against using the social media in the classroom is that just because the students are paying attention does not mean that they are learning and will retain the information later on. Another flaw in this is the fact that some parents do not want their kids to be on the social media sites just yet. I guess this argument works when discussing the grade in which the students are. Some advantages of this system is that it lets the shy kids to share their thoughts and answers. Other technologies that have been introduced in the classroom are internet phones. The internet phone services can be used to connect the kids with their peers in other countries. What do you think about the technology making its way into classrooms?

I think anything that works to get the kids learning from internet phones to twitter is good.

If it works let them learn it. Phone services like internet fax are important tools in business.
